Slumdog millionaire, the movie which is the talk of the town now a days, for all good reasons. The movie which has won all the awards, which ever it was nominated for.To top it all,it is the movie that won all major honors in the recently concluded Golden globe awards, where it won awards for the best film, best director, best screenplay and last but not the least, the best original score which was bagged by our very own A R rehman. It does not end here, it has been nominated for the Oscars in ten different categories. And many say it has the potential to do well at the Oscars as well. And best thing is it has a strong Indian connection, so as to say the film is based on Mumbai slums. It would be right to say that Slumdog Millionaire is an Hollywood film directed by a British director(Danny Boyle) with an Indian story.
So, with so much being talked about the film, lets see what the movie is all about and if it is really worth, for so much of praise. The film is about how a normal boy who lives in the slums of Mumbai, becomes a millionaire by winning in a reality show, in which the winner is awarded two million Indian rupees. So the screenplay goes like this, a boy who lives in the slums of Mumbai, goes through many tough situation as he grows up,by which he earns some knowledge on different things, which ultimately helps him to win the reality show called ‘who wants to be a millionaire’.The screenplay is been penned in a way, where the boy is been arrested, the reason being, how a boy from slums who is an illiterate can know all the answers,in which all are really tough quiz questions. So the movie is been presented in a way where the boy proves his innocence and also becomes a millionaire. But the thing, is it is more of an Indian film than a Hollywood film, by the looks of it.

So the verdict is, Slumdog Millionaire which is based on the popular Indian reality show and the slums of Mumbai, is a good film to watch. But still it is not one of the best films ever made,as many say.I say this because the film has projected India has a third world country, with full of poverty, which is not the case here in India.Yes we do have poverty in India, but the level of poverty is much less compared to what has been projected. But above all these, there is one scene in the film is i really hate, where a little boy is brutally beaten up by an elderly man, where a foreign couple comes to the little boys rescue. At that instance the boy tells to the couple “do u want to see a bit of real Indians? here he is”.I don’t know what does this mean, are we Indians really cruel as it has been projected? i don’t think so.That could have been avoided. But still i strongly suggest this film as a must watch, for its very good screenplay, great music and very good direction.

It’s one of the deadly disease that the entire world is fighting against, ‘HIV-AIDS ‘ and the recent developments on it.Some years back there was no vaccination or any other treatment available for those who were infected by HIV.So the death rate was very high in case of AIDS patients.People who were affected by the virus were infected by several other disease other than AIDS and lost their weight drastically.Even though they were alive, they could not live a normal life and above all they were ignored by the public. They were always sidelined.
But with them steps taken by the governments across the globe and recent development in the world of medicine, some relief have been brought in for the HIV-AIDS affected people.Even though the medicine for AIDS have not yet been found for the complete cure of the disease. But still some treatment methods have been found to prolong their lives and also to live strong and healthy. One such treatment is called ‘life prolonging antiretroviral therapy’,which is used to prolong the patients life term and also to be healthy as long as they live.An achievement which was unthinkable some decades ago.So by this we get to know that they to can live a normal life as we do.So it’s time for us to treat them as any other normal person.

It is the latest controversy in the world of cricket. It’s even bigger because it involves our very own ‘The God of cricket’ Sachin Tendulkar.Yes the controversy has developed because of the latest rankings that was released by the ICC.No no the controversy is not about the normal TESt or ODI rankings that are released, but it’s because of the rankings that was released on top hundred test batsman of all time.In that list sachin is ranked as low as 26th in test batsman of all time. Not only that even the greats like Lara and gavaskar are ranked 23rd and 20th respectively.
So what does this mean, does the rankings suggest that, the likes of Sachin, Lara and Gavaskar are not one of the best, that cricket has ever produced. Even the likes of Ricky pointing,Mike hussey,k sangakkara,Mathew Hayden, kallis,Mod yousuf, have found place in the top twenty test batsman of all time, but there is no place for Sachin, lara and Gavaskar. This is ridiculous, they don ‘t deserve that. With due respect to ricky pointing and others though they are very good and one of the modern day greats, i don’t think they are better than sachin and Lara.sachin and Lara are the one of the best, the game has ever produced.I personally think the formula or method that ICC has adopted to rate these batsman is completely wrong and needs correction.what ever may be, you know and i know that these ratings are nothing when compared to sachin’s contribution to cricket. And no one can rate him, Sachin is always the best and his record speaks for himself. Sachin rocks…
